Liesl is a commercial lawyer and the co-head of the Social Impact team with Candice Pillay. In this role, she is responsible for the firm's pro bono and social investment programmes.
After obtaining her Bcomm and LLB degrees at Rhodes University, Liesl completed her articles at the Norton Rose Fulbright, as well as two years of post-articles service, before leaving to take up a position at Cell C where she spent four and a half years gaining valuable telecoms experience.
NGO law and Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment are Liesl's primary focus areas in her practice. In addition, Liesl manages the internal team that delivers the firm's BEE scorecard.
Liesl is a member of the TrustLaw Pro Bono Advisory Council. TrustLaw is the global pro bono programme of the Thomson Reuters Foundation and a member of the Law Society of South Africa's pro bono committee.
