Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright today announced the appointment of New York and Vancouver lawyer Doug Buchanan as its Global Head of Infrastructure and Resources. Buchanan will also serve as the firm's Global Co-Head of Energy, Infrastructure and Resources alongside Paris partner Anne Lapierre and Houston partner John Mauel.
Gerry Pecht, Norton Rose Fulbright's Global Chief Executive, said:
"Doug brings decades of industry experience as well as proven leadership skills to the role of Global Head of Infrastructure & Resources. Our clients and lawyers benefit from his knowledge of global infrastructure and his ability to identify new projects for client business growth."
Doug Buchanan, who previously served as Norton Rose Fulbright's Co-Head of North American Infrastructure, said:
"Over the last few decades, global social, environmental and investor preference shifts have pushed the definition of infrastructure far beyond roads, public buildings and commuter rail projects. The range of transactions handled by our infrastructure team now includes smart cities, data centers, broadband, district energy, energy transition, building retrofits, transit oriented developments and resiliency projects. Our investment in recruiting and training has us well positioned to advise clients at the highest level on projects in any asset class."
Jane Caskey, Norton Rose Fulbright's Global Chief Client Officer, said:
"Doug is an acknowledged leader in the global infrastructure market. He will be a tremendous asset to our streamlined energy, infrastructure and resources sector team."
Before joining Norton Rose Fulbright in 2018, Buchanan served as co-head of the global infrastructure and project finance group at a New York-based international law firm. Prior to that, he built a leading infrastructure and P3 group at a national Canadian law firm. Additional details about Buchanan can be found on his online profile.
