Norton Rose Fulbright global arbitration co-head named National Law Journal ADR Trailblazer

Global Co-Head of International Arbitration Mark Baker, based in Houston, has been named a 2018 National Law Journal ADR Trailblazer.

Baker was recognized in light of his extensive arbitration experience; he has chaired on average eight significant arbitration cases each year since 1998 before many arbitral bodies around the globe. Baker also continues to act as a leading advocate in high-stakes arbitrations. In one recent case, he negotiated directly with a foreign head of state, which resulted in the passage of unprecedented legislation ending the international arbitration on very favorable terms for our client.

In 1996, Baker founded our international arbitration practice group, one of the world’s first dedicated ADR groups. He now sits on the firm’s Global Supervisory Board and handles all matter of complex commercial arbitration, business litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

Baker currently serves as the New York International Arbitration Center’s director. Past appointments include executive committee co-chair and board of directors member of the American Arbitration Association, and vice chair of the IBA Dispute Resolution Section.

The stellar reputation Baker built over the years earned him distinction among “The Decade’s 40 Most Influential Lawyers” as determined by The National Law Journal in 2010. He was previously named as an ADR Trailblazer in 2016.
