Norton Rose Fulbright advises on financial close of 244MW Bango Wind Farm

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised sponsors on all aspects of the development, construction and debt financing of the 244MW Bango Wind Farm in the southern tablelands, approximately 30 kilometres north of Yass, in regional NSW.
The Bango Wind Farm is one of several renewable energy projects undertaken by the Grassroots Renewable Energy Platform formed between Australian renewable energy developer CWP Renewables and global private markets investment manager Partners Group. The Norton Rose Fulbright team also advised on other Grassroots projects, including the 135MW Crudine Ridge project and the 270MW Sapphire wind farm.
GE will construct and provide maintenance services to the Bango Wind Farm, comprising 46 GE Cypress 5.3MW turbines. The Bango Wind Farm will be the first wind farm globally to use this type of turbine, which is the largest onshore wind turbine currently in production.
Underpinning the asset is a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Snowy Hydro, which is to run over 15 years and will guarantee the project long-term and stable returns.
Led by projects partner Jo Crew, Norton Rose Fulbright’s cross-practice team included corporate, project finance, construction and engineering, environment and planning, regulatory and real estate lawyers. The team advised on all project documents in connection with the project, including EPC and FSA contracts with GE, connection agreements with TransGrid and a PPA with Snowy Hydro. In addition, the team also advised on various environmental, planning and consents matters, land arrangements and the provision of equity and debt financing.
