Gov. Pataki served three terms as the 53rd governor of New York state, from 1995 through 2006 and he was a US presidential candidate in 2016.

Gov. Pataki's service as governor was defined by his strong stewardship in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Working with President George W. Bush and New York City Mayors Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg, he helped to guide the city and state as it recovered from the tragedy.

As New York State’s chief executive, Gov. Pataki balanced his pro-business philosophy with award-winning, cutting-edge policies in the renewable energy and environmental fields. He helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions by spearheading the establishment of the first mandatory cap and trade carbon initiative. Gov. Pataki’s pro-environmental, but business-friendly efforts have won him plaudits from the media and environmental groups.
