Biography

Liz Hastilow is a corporate and investment funds lawyer based in Sydney with deep investment and asset management industry experience, having worked in or with the industry for over 25 years.

Liz has extensive experience both in private practice and in-house as Global Chief Legal and Risk Officer as well as having led the Australian & New Zealand arm of a global investment management business with asset classes including direct infrastructure, global and Australian equities, emerging market equities, private credit, cash and fixed income.

Liz has advised on major cross-border M&A in the investment, infrastructure and real estate investment management industry, as well as transition and integration arrangements, new business establishment, joint venture arrangements, global Board and governance arrangements, product development, investment fund structuring, distribution, governance and reporting, and on regulatory interactions, investigations and approvals.  Whilst in-house, Liz has been responsible for global risk management, legal, compliance, insurance and governance functions and been a member of a global executive committee, global investment committee and chaired a global risk committee.

Liz has executive and non-executive Board experience, including as a director on an infrastructure asset management responsible entity and trustee Board, AFS licensee investment management Boards and investment company and services company Boards.  Liz was a director on the Financial Services Council Board and inaugural Co-Chair of the Funds Management Board Committee of the Financial Services Council.
