Norton Rose Fulbright represents 38 Degrees North in raising growth capital and acquiring US Light Energy
United States | Press release - Business | July 2025
Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright served as legal counsel to community solar and distributed renewables platform 38 Degrees North in securing growth equity investments from Climate Adaptive Infrastructure (CAI) and Kimmeridge Clean Energy (Kimmeridge). The firm also represented 38 Degrees North in acquiring US Light Energy and its 250 MW solar project pipeline.
38 Degrees North has aggregated, financed, constructed and managed more than 415 MW across more than 100 projects through partnerships with institutional investors since its founding in 2015. The acquisition of US Light Energy will expand its footprint in existing markets and lead its entry into new states.
With investments by CAI and Kimmeridge, together with a previously announced investment by S2G Investments, 38 Degrees North looks to accelerate its growth by partnering with community and distributed solar developers, local communities, and project stakeholders to deploy capital into assets across the development spectrum.
Norton Rose Fulbright’s deal team was led by Becky Diffen (Austin) and Nate Christensen (Dallas) and included Kimberly Franssen, Eric Clamage (Chicago) and Alec Mitrovich (Austin). Additional support was provided by Hilary Lefko (Washington, DC), Alexander Clark (Dallas), Christy Rivera (New York), Theresa Carroll (Chicago), Ori Noiman (Denver) and Eli Humphries (New York).
In 2023, Norton Rose Fulbright represented S2G Investments in its growth equity investment in 38 Degrees North.
