Biography

Jason Schroeder focuses his practice on project development representing owners and developers in various aspects of construction associated with low carbon projects, including renewable energy projects. Jason has experience with drafting engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), construction (including procurement agreements), construction management, engineering, operating and maintenance and long-term service agreements. He also has experience with due diligence for development contracts associated with mergers and acquisitions and financing of projects in the renewable energy space.

Before focusing on law, Jason practiced as a civil engineer developing designs and supervising construction for projects. He leverages this previous technical and project management experience into his current legal practice.

  • Represented owner developer with drafting development contracts associated with a 100-MW solar generation project with paired 55-MW battery storage.
  • Represented rPlus Energies in the drafting of an EPC for the Green River Energy Center, a 400 MW solar PV generation project with a 400 MW/1,600 MWh battery energy storage system.
  • Represented owner developer with drafting of development agreements including an engineering, procurement and construction agreement, supply agreements and long-term service agreements associated with a 160 MW solar photovoltaic generating facility and 160 MW battery energy storage system.
  • Represented developer of blue ammonia facility being developed in Louisiana, including advising on front end engineering, procurement and construction agreements.
  • Represented Soo Green HVDC Link ProjectCo in relation to the development of a 350-mile, 2.1 GW, high voltage, direct current transmission line to be installed underground along existing railroad rights of way.
  • Represented owner developer with drafting a master supply agreement associated with the procurement of battery energy storage systems.
  • Represented owner developer with drafting a suite of development agreements associated with integrating a carbon-capture process at an existing concrete production plant.
  • Represented owner developer with drafting a purchase order and terms and conditions for the procurement of large transformers.
  • Represented lender with the due diligence of development agreements associated with the funding for a solar generation facility in Illinois.
  • Represented group of lenders with the due diligence of development agreements associated with the funding for two solar generation projects in Utah. 
  • Represented lender and tax equity investor with the due diligence of development agreements associated with a solar electricity generation facility in Mississippi.
