Opportunities for 1L Law Students | Class of 2028
We invite first-year law students (Class of 2028) to apply for Norton Rose Fulbright’s Summer Associate Programs, which offer a realistic introduction to the practice of law and life as an Norton Rose Fulbright associate. In order to be eligible for a summer associate position with Norton Rose Fulbright, you must attend an ABA-accredited law school in the United States.
Applications are open for our 2026 1L and 2027 2L Summer Associate positions. Candidates are encouraged to apply to the office or position that most closely aligns with their professional interests and academic background. If you are interested in multiple locations or positions, please apply to your top choice. You will have the opportunity to rank additional locations in the application.
Upon receipt of first semester law school grades, please upload your law school transcript to the application portal or email the appropriate entry-level recruiting contact. Selected applicants will be contacted on a rolling basis to arrange for interviews.
Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications we receive, we are unable to provide an individual response to every candidate.
2026 1L Summer Associate Program
We are seeking to hire first-year JD students for the below roles in our 2026 1L and 2027 2L Summer Associate Programs in our Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Minneapolis, San Antonio, and St. Louis offices. Applicants who receive offers for one of these positions will also receive a 2027 2L Summer Associate Position. Apply for a 2026 1L position.
- 1L Business/Disputes (Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, St. Louis)
- 1L IP Brands (Minneapolis)
- 1L Intellectual Property Patent Prosecution or Disputes (Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Houston) *Candidates must be eligible to sit for the patent bar, requiring a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or Doctor of Philosophy
- 1L IP Technology Transactions (Austin, Dallas, Houston, Minneapolis, St. Louis)
- 1L Projects (Austin or Houston) *Students should have a background or identifiable interest in renewable energy, project development, or project finance.
2027 2L Summer Associate Program
We are seeking to hire first-year JD students for the below roles in our 2027 2L Summer Associate Program in Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, and Washington, D.C. Apply for a 2027 2L position.
- 2L Business/Disputes (Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York, Washington, D.C.)
- 2L Projects (Los Angeles, New York, Washington, D.C.) *Students should have a background or identifiable interest in renewable energy, project development, or project finance.

- Please address your cover letter to a recruiter located in the office for which you are applying. In your cover letter, we recommend including information such as your office interest and practice area of preference.
