Biography

Omar El-Halwagi is a litigation associate in the Houston office whose practice focuses on Employment & Labor.

Prior to law school, Omar worked in the Performance Improvement Division of the City of Houston under Mayor Annise Parker. While there, he led the City's Lean Six Sigma Program and brought in over $2 million in savings for the City.

In law school, Omar was a Darrow Scholar, and awarded both the Jane L. Mixer Memorial Award for Social Justice and the Robert S. Feldman Labor Law Award at graduation. He was the Muslim Law Students Association Co-President, a Michigan Access Program Fellow, and a Student Attorney in both the Child Advocacy Clinic and the Civil-Criminal Litigation Clinic.

At Harvard, Omar was a 2016-2017 Zuckerman Fellow at the Center for Public Leadership.

While at Texas A&M, Omar was on the AFA All-American Speech Team and was the 2009 Pi Kappa Delta National Champion in Extemporaneous Speaking. Most notably, in 2011 he was named a Harry S. Truman Scholar, the first one from Texas A&M in 17 years.
