South Africa Transport Month 2021

Global Publication October 2021

“A crucial element in the global movement of goods and people, the transportation industry is hurting right now. As company leaders work to effectively respond to crisis and build transportation industry resilience post-COVID-19, they are presented with a dramatic opportunity to remake their organisations and perhaps the sector as a whole.”Deloitte Perspectives

October is Transport Month in South Africa and as such, we are highlighting the work that we do in this sector. Our global transport practice is comprised of 400 lawyers who deliver in-depth knowledge of the global aviation, rail and shipping industries. As one of the leading full-service legal practices in the transport sector, our lawyers provide clients with a comprehensive understanding of how transportation industries operate on a local and global scale. At Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa, our transport team is broken down into shipping, rail, aviation and logistics.

Aviation – As leaders in their field, our aviation team is available to assist all of the firms’ clients in solving any of their aviation-related problems. The team provides the all-round, specialist legal service needed by today’s aviation industry. We offer our clients the benefit of years of in-depth experience on all aspects of the aviation business.

Logistics – Our local group of lawyers have considerable experience in the trade, transport and logistics of both hard and soft commodities and can provide advice at every link of the trade value chain – from the sale and purchase of commodities, through to their storage, distribution, maintenance and insurance. We offer a solutions-driven approach and multi-modal transport expertise. We understand the demands and challenges our clients face in the logistics sector, ensuring the efficient and flawless passage of their goods in accordance to terms and conditions prescribed by their customers. Our logistics team is available to assist all of the firm’s clients with any of their logistics related work.

Shipping – We are one of the few global law firms able to provide the full range of legal services needed by today’s sophisticated insurers, financiers and shipping companies. Due to the size of our global team, the breadth of our international experience and the diverse range of areas of law in which we have significant knowledge, we are able to handle any shipping-related matters, from the most complex structured finance to anti-competitive actions, from casualties to port regulatory matters, ship construction and conversion disputes to offshore disputes and from the latest environmental regulations including decarbonisation to the impact of blockchain and the digitalisation of the whole industry.

Please contact us should you require our services – we look forward to working with you.
