A team of our international disputes lawyers will examine the controversial law, 28 U.S.C. § 1782. This law opens the doors of US courts to parties in litigation and arbitration cases outside US borders to conduct potentially broad, American-style discovery against businesses or individuals located in the US. Whether you are for it or against it generally depends on whether you are on the taking or receiving end, but either way, it will benefit you to understand the availability and scope of US discovery in aid of foreign disputes. We will also give a brief example of how our team was able to trace hundreds of millions of dollars in wire transfers by applying this law.
