Biography
Daniel Nugent represents electric utilities, power producers, private equity, transmission and generation developers, cooperative and utility customers on electric, natural gas and refined products matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state public utility commissions. He has worked on asset purchase and sales, project development, financing, interconnection and transmission service, rate-making, legislative and regulatory strategy, negotiation and litigation, contracting and a broad range of regulatory compliance matters.

- Represented client in precedential contract termination rate proceeding
- Represented generation developer in regulatory matters concerning corporate reorganization
- Assisted various clients in obtaining regulatory approvals surrounding major generation asset purchases and sales, including attendant rate and financing compliance issues
- Have fully litigated 10 rate cases as outside counsel, in-house counsel and/or government attorney and been involved in settling 20+ more
- Advised clients on full scope of FERC compliance matters, including market-based rate authorizations, electric quarterly reporting, Section 204 financing requirements, interlocking directorate reporting, Qualifying Facility reporting, Section 203 purchase and sale approvals, etc.
