Norton Rose Fulbright announces new joint global heads of energy

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright today announces the appointment of partners Anne Lapierre and John Mauel as joint global heads of energy with effect from June 1, 2018. Anne and John will be responsible for promoting the firm’s energy strategy.

Anne Lapierre is based in Paris and is involved in a number of renewable and conventional oil and gas transactions in relation to project development, construction, financing, acquisition and transfer of projects. She has advised on numerous innovative and first-in-country projects in France, North Africa, as well as sub-Saharan francophone Africa, and has significant experience of solar and wind power projects. Anne was previously head of energy for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

US legal guide Best Lawyers named Anne “Lawyer of the Year 2017” for project finance and development in the French market. Anne is a member of the board of France’s main wind energy trade organisation (FEE) and in November 2017 was appointed to the Solar Impulse Foundation’s Strategic Committee. Anne is also ranked among the 50 most influential lawyers in Africa by publication Jeune Afrique and has been included in A Word About Wind’s prestigious international Women’s Power List Top 100.

John Mauel is based in Houston and has over 30 years of experience in handling the development, financing, acquisition, and divestiture of domestic and international LNG, oil and gas, and electric power projects, including the consortium structuring and joint venture arrangements involved in such projects. John is currently acting as lead outside counsel in connection with several major LNG projects and upstream oil and gas acquisitions and divestitures.

John is ranked as a leading individual by a number of prestigious directories such as Chambers, Who’s Who and Texas Super Lawyer.

Anne and John take over from current global head of energy Simon Currie who is leading an innovative new advisory business that will provide services to the energy sector. Simon will continue as a consultant with the firm.
