Programme

March 21 | Antitrust and Competition: Now that the National Security and Investment (NSI) Act has been in operation for over 12 months, this webinar will look at key points, trends and lessons to be learned that have emerged in relation to its operation over the past year, and consider possible future developments in this area. (Speakers: Ian Giles and Mark Daniels)

March 23 | Restructuring: In the current economic climate, an increasing number of companies are having to deal with issues around the insolvency, or potential insolvency, of a trading partner resulting in the need to consider matters such as supply disruption, non-payment of invoices, enforcement of retention of title rights, set-off, the impact of administration, and the termination or suspension of contracts. This webinar will look at the various steps that can be taken to deal with counterparty insolvency. (Speaker: Radford Goodman)

March 28 | Data Protection: As we approach GDPR’s fifth birthday, this webinar will examine the ICO’s approach to its increased fining powers and how imposing monetary penalties fits into the ICO’s wider strategic priorities. This session will primarily focus on the ICO’s methodology to calculate fines but will also compare and contrast the position of the UK with EU data protection authorities. (Speakers: Marcus Evans and Lara White)

March 30 | Tax: The pace of change in the tax world continues and in this webinar we will look at domestic initiatives, including in light of the Spring 2023 Budget, but also consider international measures. (Speaker: Dominic Stuttaford)

April 18 | Corporate: There continue to be company law and corporate governance developments, including narrative reporting developments and these will be considered in this webinar. (Speaker: Deborah Wilcher and Jo Chattle)

April 20 | Disputes: This webinar will provide an update on recent cases relevant to the work of in-house lawyers and company secretarial teams. (Speaker: Andrew Judkins)

April 25 | Employment: There are a number of upcoming developments in UK employment law, including proposals to change flexible working requests, carers leave, neonatal care leave, redundancy protection for those on maternity leave and sexual harassment. We will look at these, together with the employment implications of the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill. We will also look at some of the key employment cases being heard this year. (Speaker: Catrina Smith)

April 27 | Financial Services: On December 9, 2022, the Chancellor announced a set of reforms to drive growth and competitiveness in the financial services sector. These are wide ranging in their scope and constitute an ambitious agenda of change. They sit alongside a number of other initiatives, including the transfer of retained EU legislation into the future regulatory framework, the Financial Services and Markets Bill and the FCA's new consumer duty. In this webinar we will look at how it all fits together and provide an update on the current status of the key components. (Speakers: Hannah Meakin, Albert Weatherill and Matt Gregory)

There have been a number of corporate governance and narrative reporting developments since the publication of our July 2022 checklist. Our updated checklist sets out key developments by area, together with our thoughts on some of the main areas of change over the last few months.
