Houston employment partner recognized as DEI Champion with Women, Influence & Power Award

Houston employment and labor partner Jamila Mensah has won a 2022 Women, Influence & Power in Law Award in the category of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Champion.

Corporate Counsel announced the awards this week, honoring general counsel, in-house leaders and law firm partners who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in law. The winners will be recognized at an awards dinner in October as part of the Women, Influence & Power in Law Conference in Washington, DC.

Since her election to partner in 2019, Mensah has helped lead Norton Rose Fulbright's diversity efforts. As one of four Black partners in the Houston office, she actively seeks opportunities to help other diverse lawyers and help create a fair and equitable society for all.

In addition to her commitment to diversity and inclusion, Mensah handles numerous matters for her clients, including discrimination, retaliation and wage and hour issues. She also counsels and trains employers on a wide range of employment issues, including hiring, termination, wage and hour compliance, disability accommodation, employment discrimination and drafting of employee handbooks and personnel policies. She also conducts internal investigations for clients on sensitive employment-related issues.
