MCCA honors Houston employment lawyer with Rising Star award

United States Press release - People July 29, 2019

The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) honored Jamila S. Mensah (Houston) by naming her a winner of a 2019 Rising Star Award.

Jamila has an extensive record of successfully resolving employment-related cases in federal and state court and before administrative bodies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

MCCA’s Rising Stars is an annual list featuring stellar attorneys whose accomplishments and dedication to the legal profession and to their community makes them “attorneys to watch.” Winners are picked in part based on their love of law, ambition, pursuit of excellence, compassion for the disadvantaged and willingness to give back to others.

The MCCA is committed to advancing the hiring, retention and promotion of diverse lawyers in law departments and law firms by providing research, best practices, professional development and training and establishing pipeline initiatives.

Jamila handles many matters, including discrimination, retaliation and wage and hour issues and counsels and trains employers on a wide range of employment issues, including hiring, termination, wage and hour compliance, disability accommodation, employment discrimination, and drafting of employee handbooks and personnel policies.

The Rising Stars will be profiled in MCCA’S Diversity & the Bar® publication and honored at its  annual Creating Pathways to Diversity Conference in New York on October 15th.
