Biography

Natasha Kavanagh is banking and finance Senior Associate based in Dubai.

Natasha has a broad range of banking and finance experience including cross-border project finance, Islamic finance, asset finance and real estate finance. Natasha has advised major international financial institutions, sponsors, corporates and investment funds in relation to a wide range of financing structures and finance documentation. Natasha has been working in the region since 2010.

Project Finance

  • KOSPO Wind Power Project – Acting as lenders' counsel on the project financing of the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a 51.75MW wind power plant to be located in the Governate of Tafila in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
  • Xenel Wind Power Project – Acting as lenders' counsel on the Shariah compliant project financing of the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a 51.75MW wind power plant to be located in the Governate of Tafila in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
  • EBRD and Jordan Kuwait Bank – Acting as lenders' counsel on the project financing of the construction, equipment and placing into operation of three separate solar photovoltaic power plants to be located in north Jordan.
  • King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) District Cooling and Potable Water Project – advising Saudi Arabian British Bank in relation to the financing, construction and operation of a SAR 736 million district cooling and potable water project at KKIA, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
  • Shuaibah-3 Second Water Expansion Project - acting as lender's counsel on the Shuaibah-3 Second Water Expansion Project comprising of the construction and operation of a 25,000m3/day seawater desalination expansion to an existing independent power and water producer (IWPP) plant near Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
  • Sohar IWP, Oman – advising the Valoriza Agua SL - led consortium selected by Oman Power and Water Procurement Company SAOC on the project financing of the construction and operation of an independent water project (IWP) being developed in Sohar in the Sultanate of Oman.
  • Egypt FiT project - Advising development finance institutions in connection with the financing of two utility scale FiT projects in Egypt including a 25MW solar photovoltaic power plant, located in Benban, Egypt.
  • Mall of Egypt - advising Banque Misr and National Bank of Egypt as the Mandated Lend Arrangers on the EGP 3 billion (approximately US$441 million) syndicated financing for the Mall of Egypt project developed by Majid Al Futtaim.
  • Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport, Madinah – advising the sponsors, Saudi Oger, TAV and Al-Rajhi Group in relation to the USD 1.2 billion airport expansion of the Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. This was the first airport privatisation deal to close in Saudi Arabia and the first ever PPP deal in the region to be entirely Sharia-compliant.
  • Al-Salam Bank-Bahrain BSC - advising the bank on the restructuring of its Shariah compliant project finance facility for the construction and operation of a Biodiesel plant located in Hong Kong.
  • Bin Omeir Hospital Financing - advising Emirates NBD and Arab Bank in connection with the financing of the Bin Omeir Group hospital project in Abu Dhabi.
  • Saudi Hollandi Bank – advising the bank in relation to a SAR 500million project financing relating to the development of a cultural centre in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

  • Rabigh IPP, KSA - advising lenders on the US$1.2bn refinancing of the SEC Rabigh IPP.
  • International Finance Corporation – Acting for the IFC with respect to a murabaha facilities agreement to a major food and beverage manufacturing company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Mashreqbank psc – advising the lender with respect to the UAE Law aspects of a cross-border financing of commodity trades on a funded participation basis.
  • BNP Paribas SA – advising for the lender with respect to a Shariah compliant real-estate backed financing in the UK.
  • First Gulf Bank PJSC – advising the bank on its AED601 million acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Dubai First PJSC a Dubai based consumer finance company specialising in liability and credit card products. The disposal was structured as an auction sale.
  • Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund Limited (EAIF) - advising lender in relation to term loan Facility to be provided by EAIF to Sakr Energy Solutions FZCO.
  • First Gulf Bank PJSC – advising the bank on the financing aspects its AED601 million acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Dubai First PJSC a Dubai based consumer finance company specialising in liability and credit card products. The disposal was structured as an auction sale.
  • Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund facility - advising the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund in relation to its term loan facility to a mobile generator plant company based in the Jebel Ali Freezone.
  • Al Jaber Group – advising the group in relation the UAE law aspects of their group-wide restructuring.
  • Standard Chartered Bank – advising the bank in relation to its USD48 million real estate financing of a property in Abu Dhabi.
  • Standard Chartered Bank – advising the bank in relation to an acquisition financing of a motor business in Bahrain.
  • ABC International Bank - advising ABC International Bank on numerous separate financings structured on a Shariah  compliant basis for the acquisition of real estate in the United Kingdom.
  • Emirates NBD Bank and Qatar National Bank - advising the lenders on a facility for a luxury hotel in Dubai, managed by an internationally renowned operator.
  • BMI Bank B.S.C. – advising the lender in relation to a cross-border Shariah compliant ship financing.
  • Bank Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ – advising the lender in relation to a Shariah compliant ship financing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Advising one of the region's largest energy companies with regard to the finance aspects of their group-wide restructuring.
  • Acting for a high net worth individual resident of the UAE in relation to the financing of the acquisition of a luxury property in the UK.
  •  Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited – advising the bank in relation to a USD 50million facility to Samsung.
  • International Finance Corporation – advising IFC with respect to a murabaha facilities agreement to a mortgage provider in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
