Rich Hughes is a finance lawyer based in London. He has wide and varied experience, working across structured, fund, asset and real estate finance and general banking. His experience includes two years in-house at a major US investment bank and extended secondments as acting general counsel for one of the world’s leading airlines. He is well-known for a practice that straddles both the bank and bond markets, and is highly regarded for his work in the hotel and leisure sectors. He has been listed in various legal directories for his expertise in securitisation, asset finance, banking and real estate financing.
Rich acts for banks, borrowers, funds and trustees and his client base reflects his experience, ranging across a broad spectrum of major banks, companies and individual entrepreneurs.
Rich’s transactional work includes many RMBS, CMBS and credit card securitisations for major investment banks and he has acted for Thames Water on a number of its bond financings. He has particular experience in finance in the football sector and acted for Barclays on the financing of the Emirates/Arsenal Stadium. He has also acted on multiple aircraft financings for Emirates. Recently, he acted for Lloyds Bank on the financing of the Ham Yard Hotel.
Rich holds a law degree from Brasenose College, Oxford and a Masters degree in modern history from the University of Birmingham; he is an expert on the history of the Great War. He became a partner at the practice in 2015.
