Michael Manhas assists clients and senior lawyers on a variety of litigation, regulatory and administrative law matters relating to the environment, natural resources, energy, aboriginal law, and economic regulation. He has appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, as well as the British Columbia and Alberta utilities commissions and the Environmental Appeal Board. Mr. Manhas has also assisted on matters before all levels of court in Alberta, the National Energy Board, the Canadian Transportation Agency, the Forest Appeals Commission, and the British Columbia Ferries Commissioner.
In particular, Mr. Manhas has environmental law experience dealing with contaminated sites, common law claims in nuisance and negligence, defending environmental permits, and water law issues, as well as energy regulatory experience in hearings dealing with tolls and tariffs, market design, rate cases, and cost of capital. He has also assisted clients with forestry, competition, and expropriation issues.
Mr. Manhas was called to the bar in 2013 after summering and articling with the firm and clerking for seven justices of the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
