Maximilian Schmitz is an intellectual property lawyer based in Munich. He advises on litigation and dispute resolution in the full range of intellectual property rights, with a particular focus on patent law.
Maximilian advises national and international companies in accordance with intellectual property rights relating to patent, utility model, trademark and design law, as well as competition law. Besides his focus on patent infringement proceedings, he also assists with invalidation proceedings before the Federal Patent Court and the Federal Supreme Court, as well as opposition proceedings before the German Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. Inter alia he advises clients in the fields of mechanical engineering, medical technology, bio science, electrical engineering and sports equipment.
Maximilian studied law at the Ludwigs-Maximilians-University of Munich and the University of Augsburg. He holds a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in the field of intellectual property from the Heinrich-Heine-University Duesseldorf. During his traineeship he worked a couple of years for a renowned German IP-boutique.
Maximilian is member of the Munich Bar Association as well as the German Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyrights (GRUR e.V.). He is a German native speaker, is fluent in English and has basic knowledge of French.
