Paul Jorgensen practises in all areas of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent litigation. Dr. Jorgensen also provides strategic advice, particularly on patent infringement and validity.   

Dr. Jorgensen has been involved in many complex patent proceedings, including multiple trials before the Federal Court. He has experience in actions under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations, patent actions, and damages actions. He previously practised as a general commercial litigator, where he regularly appeared before the Ontario Superior Court, and he gained insight into judicial decision-making and appellate practice while clerking at the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

Before going to law school, Dr. Jorgensen was a research scientist. He worked at Harvard Medical School as a Fellow of the Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund for Medical Research. He also worked at the Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research at the University of Toronto as a senior research associate. Dr. Jorgensen's research was focused on the molecular basis of cancers. He is an author on over 20 scientific publications.
