Sindhura Swaminathan

Biography

Sindhura Swaminathan is a project finance lawyer based in Paris. She focuses on project finance, asset finance and export finance.

She has a wide range of experience in project finance, including major investments in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. She has significant experience in energy and infrastructure financings such as roads, motorways, hospitals, railways, and mining.

She is regularly involved in negotiating and drafting project financing documents and has a strong grasp of key risks related to project documents such as public-private partnership agreements, power purchase agreements, EPC and O&M contracts, interface agreements and direct agreements.

She advises French and international sponsors and project companies, as well as lenders such as French and foreign commercial banks and multilateral development banks. She also advises Islamic financial institutions on their project financings.

In the domain of asset finance, Sindhura represents banks and investors in connection with the financing of aircraft, railways, ships, satellites and other movable assets. These transactions include structured finance aspects and usually involve European and international export credit agencies. Sindhura also has extensive experience in lease financing and has been assisting a wide range of clients on acquisitions and sale & lease-back operations on behalf of owners and lessors.

Given her dual qualification in English and French law, her practice is international. Based on her ability to work in various legal cultures and her capacity to adapt to different environments, she supports clients in complex cross-border transactions.

Sindhura began her career in a major law firm in their London and New York offices and then joined the office of Paris where she was promoted to Counsel. She was seconded for the regional office of an international financial institution in Southern Africa, and more recently to a subsidiary of a French development agency in Paris. These experiences gave a strong grasp of projects involving development financial institutions and an in-depth understanding of their specific requirements.
