Yves Botteman
Biography
Yves is an EU competition lawyer based in Brussels. He has a strong focus on EU and national merger control, as well as cartel and antitrust investigations. He is recognized for securing favorable outcomes in proceedings before the European Commission and national competition authorities. His litigation experience includes representing clients in high-profile follow-on damages cases before national courts across the EU.
Yves advises clients on market dominance abuses, distribution network design, and supply chain management. He has particular experience in the digital and publishing sectors, guiding clients through the evolving regulatory landscape shaped by the Digital Markets Act and Digital Services Act. He also supports clients in developing antitrust compliant sustainability collaborations that also mitigate greenwashing risks.
In addition, Yves provides practical, hands-on support guidance in designing and implementing antitrust compliance programs and conducting audits at both the company and trade association levels.
His industry experience spans across renewable energy, news media and streaming services, consumer products, chemicals and agro-biotechnology, as well as electric mobility aviation and aerospace.

- IFG: Represented the grapes biotech company in EU merger control proceedings in connection with its acquisition by EQT FUTURE / AM FRESH / SNFL, in close coordination with the Dentons US team in charge of the DOJ review.*
- EnBW: Advising the German energy utility company in merger control proceedings relating to the acquisition of a developer of solar and wind farms in Europe.*
- Cycling components: advising one of the leading global cycling components supplier on EU distribution, bolt-on acquisitions and e-commerce matters.*
- Global Biotech Industry Association: advising the association on antitrust compliance and sustainability-related topics.*
- Collins Aerospace: Representing the company as third-party complainant in merger control proceedings in the EU.*
- LG Chem (now LG Energy Solution): Representing the company in follow-on civil antitrust claims initiated by Microsoft/Nokia in English courts in relation to alleged conspiracies affecting Lithium-Ion Batteries.*
- Leading app store supplier: Acting as lead counsel in a civil litigation brought in Antwerp against the app store in connection with e-commerce and gambling.*
- Hyundai: Acting as co-counsel for the Belgian subsidiary in connection with appellate litigation in Antwerp in relation to the termination of a Belgium-based distributor.*
