Biography

A partner since 1972, Chip Palmer practices in the New York office. He focuses on representing both publicly and privately owned entities, as well as substantial private investors. He is involved in securities law and transactional matters, such as mergers, acquisitions, exchanges and related financings with institutional lenders. In addition, he offers antitrust counseling on both a transactional and operational basis, advice on substantive stockholder matters and general executive advice relating to fundamental business issues. Particularly, Mr. Palmer has extensive experience in the transactional and operational activities of newspaper and broadcasting companies. Having twice served as the unofficial general counsel of two large corporate clients, Mr. Palmer also has substantial experience in the practical handling of the numerous and diverse legal issues which arise in a business context.

Mr. Palmer attended Yale University where he received a B.A. in 1963 and Duke University where he received an LL.B. in 1966. He served on the editorial board of the Duke University Law Journal. He was admitted to practice law in New York in 1968.

During his career, Mr. Palmer has served as a senior fellow for a seminar course in commercial practice at Duke University School of Law and as President of the Duke Law Alumni Association. From 1967 to 1972, he served in the New York National Guard. Mr. Palmer is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
