Biography

Clinton Slogrove is a dispute resolution lawyer based in Calgary. Clinton has particular experience in large, complex litigation and arbitration (both domestic and international). He has represented clients from a broad array of industries, including oil and gas, construction, aviation, financial institutions, and telecommunications.

Clinton was called to the bar in South Africa in 2013 and in Alberta in 2023. Prior to moving to Calgary he spent five years in the firm’s Dubai office.

  • Represents a large Alberta based Petrochemical company in long running, multi-billion dollar dispute regarding the co-ownership and operation of an ethane cracker.
  • Represented a JSE-listed construction company in an ICC international arbitration against an Indian governmental department regarding the construction and operation of national toll roads.
  • Represented an international airports operator in an arbitration over a claim for payment for services rendered at multiple airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Represented a Canadian high-net-worth individual and owner of the world’s largest online gaming platform in litigation in the DIFC Court arising out of a failed bid to take the publicly listed holding company private on the reliance of allegedly fraudulent equity commitment.
  • Integral part of team representing the operator of a five-star hotel on the Palm Island in Dubai, UAE. The dispute regarding operation of the hotel spanned multiple forums and jurisdictions, including numerous DIFC-LCIA arbitrations, various onshore Dubai Court proceedings, multiple DIFC Court proceedings, three proceedings before the Superior Court for the State of California, Abu Dhabi proceedings and UAE Union Supreme Court proceedings, as well as various local government dispute resolution forums such as Land Department and licencing disputes.
  • Represented one of Pakistan’s largest telecommunications companies in an international arbitration with an American satellite bandwidth provider.
  • Represented the Saudi Arabian licenced distributor of branded electronics in an ICC arbitration regarding marketing entitlements and unpaid dues.
  • Represented large South African construction company running an internal tender appeal and subsequent High Court Judicial Review of a government procurement of a ZAR 750 million tender for the construction of a hydro-pipeline.
