Biography

Christian is a partner based in our London office. He has over 25 years of experience in securitization and structured finance. He joined Norton Rose Fulbright from a leading U.S. investment bank, having previously been a partner at another large international law firm, where he worked for over 20 years.

Christian advises sponsors, lenders, issuers and investors across a broad range of asset classes, with a particular focus on infrastructure ABS (including digital, renewables, and water), commercial real estate (including credit-tenant linked (CTL) issuances, back-leverage funding, single-asset CMBS and portfolio / conduit CMBS) and operating business WBS.  He has led teams advising pre-eminent sponsors, investment banks and commercials banks on many market-first and other innovative transactions and has worked with colleagues and clients across Europe and around the globe for many years.  He also has extensive experience in public and private RMBS issuances and warehouses, for both high street and specialist mortgage lenders, and in the financing and trading of both performing and non-performing loan portfolios, as well as in the restructuring and enforcement of structured finance transactions and/or their underlying assets.

·         Advised Brookfield Renewable Partners in respect of the ABS financing of its European and UK solar portfolio companies, financing private wire and front-of-meter assets (including both ground mounted and distributed generation solar assets) in the United Kingdom and Spain.

·         Advised Blackstone in respect of the WBS and high yield financings of its UK Center Parcs business.

·         Advised Morgan Stanley, UBS, RBS NatWest and the other arrangers in respect of a series of CMBS, debenture issuance and liability management  transactions for British Land, including the CMBS financings of the Broadgate Estate in the City of London, of Sainsbury’s supermarkets portfolios around the UK and of the Meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield.

·         Advised the sponsors in numerous issuances (both UK and across Europe) under the following CMBS platforms – ELoC (Morgan Stanley), ECLIPSE (Barclays), Opera (Eurohypo), DECO (Deutsche Bank), and Epic (RBS NatWest).

·         Advised NAMA on the structuring and establishment of its international asset resolution platform.

·         Advised the arrangers on the first CMBS transaction in Ireland (Opera - Castle Market Holdings).

·         Advised Goldman Sachs as arrangers of all six UK credit-tenant-linked (CTL) bond issuances for Tesco Stores and as arranger of a sale-and-leaseback CTL financing for the Banco Santander branch network in Spain.
