Danny Urquhart practises in all areas of commercial and civil litigation with a focus on complex contractual, securities, and class action disputes. Mr. Urquhart has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court, Ontario Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of British Columbia, Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal. Mr. Urquhart joined us as a summer student in 2014 and articled with us in 2015-2016. During his articles, he was seconded to the Royal Bank of Canada. 

While in law school, Mr. Urquhart was heavily involved in the University of Toronto's mooting program. He was an award-winning oralist in the 2013 Corporate/Securities Moot, an oralist in the Faculty of Law's 2014 Grand Moot, and a member of the Faculty of Law's Moot Court Committee.

  • Defending a European telecommunications company in a billion-dollar breach of contract and breach of confidence claim

  • Defending a major Canadian engineering company in a secondary market securities class action

  • Defending a major Canadian grocery retailer in class actions alleging a price-fixing conspiracy and an ongoing investigation by the Competition Bureau

  • Resisting a set aside application by the Government of Canada in respect to a NAFTA Section 11 arbitral award obtained by a Delaware aggregate company

  • Defending a Canadian pharmaceutical company in a cross-border secondary market securities class action

  • Representing a pharmaceutical company in product liability class actions in respect to its drug

  • Representing major Canadian financial institutions in brokers negligence actions

  • Representing major Canadian financial institutions in internal investigations into compliance matters

  • Representing a public company in a shareholder dispute involving the TSX and OSC

  • Representing a Canadian mining company in a claim for misrepresentation
