Jennie Dorsaint, London partner and co-chair of the Origins network, sat down with Green Street News to discuss what Black History Month means to her and the importance of sharing experiences of Black colleagues in Real Estate and the legal industry. See some of her comments below.

Jennie comments on what Black History Month means to her:

“Black History Month celebrates the contribution of people of Afro-Caribbean heritage, highlighting the work, successes and leadership of our ancestors that often went unrecognised during their lifetime. Black History Month allows us to reclaim the narrative of our ancestors and is a reminder to current and future generations of the strength and resilience of the Black community.”

How is Black History Month celebrated at Norton Rose Fulbright?

“Black History Month is celebrated at Norton Rose Fulbright and this has been the case for many years. I co-chair our race and ethnicity network, Origins, and every year, our members come up with some brilliant ideas to celebrate Black History Month.

A couple of years ago, we hosted a Bridgerton dinner with an expert explaining to us the Black history in the context of the Bridgerton TV series. This year, we are welcoming Black professionals from various careers - including artists, sport professionals and legal professionals - to discuss the 2025 Black History Month theme “Standing Firm in Power and Pride”. The network also supports the firm in its wider efforts to increase representation and further support colleagues from ethnic minority backgrounds.”
