Biography

Adrian Jones is a commercial real estate lawyer based in Melbourne.

Adrian has a keen interest in renewable energy, having advised on both wind and solar farm projects. This experience includes negotiating lease and access agreements with landowners, advising on project sale agreements, and performing due diligence on assets.

Adrian also has a particular focus on commercial development, and he advises on joint ventures, development agreements, sales and acquisitions, management agreements, leases, and due diligence. His transactional experience includes advising on the establishment of investment joint ventures, acquisitions of development sites, and development fund through transactions.

  • 151 Property –on the sale of Brimbank Shopping Centre, a key sub-regional shopping centre over 38,000 square metres.
  • Next Story Group – on the acquisition of a completed hotel development in Southbank for the launch of the "Ink" hotel brand.
  • Setia – on the AU$101m acquisition of 308 Exhibition Street, being the highest priced vacant land transaction in the Melbourne CBD, to be redeveloped into a Shangri-La Hotel and residential apartments.
  • LaSalle Investment Management – on the acquisition of Pakenham Place Shopping Centre in Melbourne.
  • Goodman – on the sale of the 76,000sqm Kmart distribution centre at Truganina to Invesco.

Commercial Development

  • Caydon – on hotel management agreements with a major international hotel operator for the launch of a new hotel brand in Australia within Caydon's master-planned community.
  • Investa – on the acquisition and fund through of a premium grade office building at 567 Collins Street.
  • GPT – on the acquisition and fund through of an A-grade office building on a long-term leasehold basis at 150 Collins Street.
  • Arena REIT – on the ongoing management and development of the Arena portfolio of childcare centres.
  • Shell on its 49% equity stake in ESCO Pacific. We advised on all Australian aspects of the acquisition, including assisting with sale negotiations and documentation, securing Foreign Investment Review Board approval and due diligence over the portfolio of development projects.
  • Kaufland on the sale of nine development sites and a completed distribution centre as part of Kaufland’s announced exit from the Australian market.

  • Scape – on the acquisition and development of over 10 student accommodation sites in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane comprising a pipeline of over 5,000 beds.

Renewable Energy

  • Engie on the acquisition of property rights for the Willogoleche Wind Farm in South Australia.
  • RES Australia on the acquisition of property rights for the Twin Creek Wind Farm, near Kapunda, South Australia a 51 turbine wind farm with a generational capacity of 185MW.
  • Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action on the preparation, negotiation and finalisation of tenure documents for Victoria’s first Advanced Waste Processing Project, requiring total investment of between $3 billion and $5 billion.
  • RES Australia on the acquisition of property rights for the Murra Warra Wind Farm, near Horsham, Victoria a 116 turbine wind farm with a generational capacity of 429MW now being developed as a joint venture with Macquarie Capital.
  • RES Australia on ongoing property management for the proposed Penshurst Wind Farm, in Victoria.
  • Pacific Hydro – on the acquisition of property rights for the development of a solar farm in North Queensland.
