New York lawyer receives Seton Hall’s Woman of Substance Award

Mayling C. Blanco (New York) recently received the Seton Hall Women of Substance Award at the law school's annual Women of Substance Gala, hosted by the Women's Law Forum.

The event, held at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, honored three Seton Hall alumnae who "exemplify what it means to be a successful, empowered, and strong Seton Hall lawyer." The Women's Law Forum is a student organization at Seton Hall University School of Law dedicated to providing a forum for awareness of women's issues in the legal profession and society.

Blanco, who was selected for her leadership, significant achievement and character, was recognized along with Judge Linda Lordi of the Family Division of the Vicinage 5 Superior Court in New Jersey and Dean June Forrest of the Seton Hall University School of Law.

"When you hear a woman speak, make sure she is credited for her ideas," Blanco said during her acceptance speech. "Each of you will have the opportunity to shape what the future looks like and carry the baton a bit further."

Blanco primarily represents corporations and executives in white collar defense and government investigations, notably concentrating her practice on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and corporate fraud, as well as matters implicating criminal tax exposure. She is also an active member of the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Seton Hall Alumni Council.
