A number of new employment laws came into force in April 2024 to provide greater flexibility for employees, including enhanced flexible working rights and new leave entitlements. However, a recent survey by Acas found that 43% of employers were unaware of the changes to the flexible working regime (www.acas.org.uk/7-out-of-10-employees-are-unaware-of-new-law-changes-to-flexible-working). It is important that employers are aware of, and prepared for, these changes.

EU Anti-Coercion Instrument: Key takeaways for businesses

On December 27, 2023, the European Union’s new Anti-Coercion Instrument (Regulation 2023/2675) (the ‘ACI’) came into force. It aims to protect the European Union (the EU), and its Member States, from economic coercion by third countries. This could be a double-edged sword for businesses, however.
