On August 1, 2025, the UK Supreme Court delivered its long-awaited judgment in Hopcraft v Close Brothers Limited and on 3 August the FCA announced it would consult on a redress scheme.

A number of new employment laws came into force in April 2024 to provide greater flexibility for employees, including enhanced flexible working rights and new leave entitlements. However, a recent survey by Acas found that 43% of employers were unaware of the changes to the flexible working regime (www.acas.org.uk/7-out-of-10-employees-are-unaware-of-new-law-changes-to-flexible-working). It is important that employers are aware of, and prepared for, these changes.
