The Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association has published its Stewardship and Voting Guidelines 2025, which are designed to provide a framework for pension scheme trustees and their advisers to drive responsible investment and influence positive corporate behaviour globally.
The new edition takes into account recent political and economic events, the impact on shareholder rights of changes to the UK listings rules and AI developments, as well as developments in relation to sustainable finance, social factors and the workforce.

UK Supreme Court provides clarification on charterers’ liability limit under the 1976 Limitation Convention
On 9 April 2025, in MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company SA v Conti 11 Container Schiffahrts-GmbH & Co KG MS “MSC Flaminia”, the UK Supreme Court held that a charterer can in principle limit its liability under the 1976 Limitation Convention (the Convention) for a claim brought by the owner.
