Norton Rose Fulbright advises lenders on financing of BDx expansion in Hong Kong

Global Press release - Business May 2025

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised SMBC, UOB, and Clifford Capital as lenders on the project financing for the development of BDx Data Centers’ (BDx) first dedicated hyperscale data centre in Hong Kong.

BDx is a leading cloud-and carrier-neutral data centre, colocation and interconnection solutions provider that serves enterprises and hyperscalers across fast-growing markets in Asia.

The financing will be used for the development of and operating expenses for BDx’s latest state-of-the-art hyperscale data centre, strategically located in Kwai Chung, one of Hong Kong’s most sought-after digital infrastructure zones. Designed in close collaboration with its anchor hyperscale customer, this facility has been built to exacting technical specifications with an emphasis on energy efficiency.

This project financing will support increased digital transformation across Asia, uniting the region’s existing capabilities with greater digital capacity to bolster the rapidly growing economic demand in the data sector throughout the continent.

The Norton Rose Fulbright team advising the lenders on this transaction was led by banking and finance partner and Head of Singapore Yu-En Ong, supported by senior associate Kai Ye Ang and associate Kelly Ching. The firm previously advised on the financing of BDx’s acquisition of the Singapore freehold site of its flagship data centre in 2024.

The firm’s global banking and finance team advises across the full spectrum of legal banking and finance matters, advising major banks, finance providers, export credit agencies, corporate and sovereign entities and other participants in the global banking and finance arena.
