Our Women in Maritime network began as a result of the desire to stay connected – not just with our colleagues, but our clients and peers navigating this space. Over time we found we had together created a space to collaboratively discuss, learn and challenge the status quo.

Our continued aim is to encourage more women into the industry, to create and support inclusive work cultures where women's careers can thrive and their achievements are celebrated.

"Shipping remains a male dominated industry and we are part of the concerted effort to help the industry to move forward. Leading the way by the example and encouraging more women in the industry is of paramount importance."

International Day for Women in Maritime | May 18, 2023

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) International Day for Women in Maritime provides the opportunity to celebrate the remarkable achievements of women, promote the recruitment and retention of women in the maritime sector, and support the work to address the current gender imbalance.

The theme this year focuses on "mobilising networks for gender equality”, a reminder that we can all play a role in actively ensuring representation across the industry, connecting colleagues and peers.

"I have seen a great deal of change since I started out in shipping - both in the Royal Navy and commercial shipping sector - however there remains a lot to be done to promote gender equality and balance."
