Biography
Pier-Olivier Poisson is a partner and co-head of our financial services and regulation practice. He is regularly retained to advise financial institutions, including insurers, banks, trust companies, and other regulated and unregulated financial service providers, on a broad range of transactional and regulatory matters.
Pier-Olivier counsels financial service providers on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing and distribution, regulatory investigations, FinTech and InsurTech initiatives, referral arrangements, corporate governance, and other corporate matters.

Pier-Olivier has acted in the following matters:
- Synex Business Performances Inc., one of Canada's largest insurance brokerage groups, in connection with minority investments by Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and Ares Management Credit Funds
- Beneva, Canada’s largest mutual insurer, in the context of its announced merger with Gore Mutual, one of the oldest property and casualty mutual insurers in Canada
- American International Group Inc., in the context of the sale of its individual personal travel insurance and assistance business for US$600 million in cash plus additional earn-out consideration
- La Capitale and SSQ Assurance, in the peer-to-peer merger transaction that created Beneva, Canada's largest mutual insurance company.
- iA Financial Group, in connection with the creation of iA Financial Corporation Inc. a reporting issuer holding all the common shares of Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc.
