Biography
Alain Malek is a corporate lawyer based in Casablanca and Paris. He heads our North Africa practice and is Head of our Casablanca office. He focuses on M&A and has handled numerous cross-border transactions involving leading groups in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Alain has extensive experience of advising on infrastructure and natural resources projects. He has also advised financial institutions on projects in Africa such as for acquisition and divestment or for mining-related needs and power plants. Alain has worked on M&A transactions, privatisations, concessions and invitations to tender for both private foreign groups and private national groups operating in Africa in a broad range of sectors including telecommunications, tourism and, real property.
Alain has been top-ranked by international legal directories such as Chambers Global and Legal 500 for Morocco and Africa-wide. “Sources commend his in-depth knowledge of the Moroccan market, and his pragmatic approach to transactions. Sources also recognise Alain as one of the leading experts for projects work in francophone Africa” Chambers Global, 2013.
Alain has a Maîtrise (master’s degree) in business law and corporate taxation from the University of Paris II Assas, and a DEA (post-graduate degree) from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas. Alain is a member of the Paris Bar and is fluent in French, English and Arabic.
