Biography

Vittorio Casamento is a banking and finance lawyer based in Sydney.

Vittorio has over 15 years' experience at leading international firms in Sydney and London. He has extensive experience advising domestic and international financial institutions and corporate entities on a variety of financing transactions in the property, infrastructure and energy sectors.

Vittorio also acts on a wide range of derivatives, repurchase/securities lending, debt capital markets, securitisation and structured finance transactions (including asset, equipment and receivables financing) for various financial institutions, investment funds, trustees/agents and other investors.

Vittorio is recognised in the 2018 edition of Best Lawyers Australia for his expertise in derivatives.  Recently, Vittorio has been involved in advising domestic and international banks on Australia's implementation of OTC derivatives regulations (including trade reporting, central clearing and margining for uncleared swaps) and has been an active participant in a number of industry bodies that have been involved in the development and consultation process for these regulations.

  • National Australia Bank - in connection with the financing of the acquisition of the land for the "The Gateway Shopping Centre" in Palmerston, Northern Territory by Coombes Property Group.
  • Westpac Banking Corporation - Numerous residential and commercial property developments in Sydney, with facility limits ranging up to $150m. These facilities often involve complex tripartite arrangements with builders, property managers and government authorities.
  • Various offshore hedge funds - In connection with senior and mezzanine property development facilities including residential, commercial and seniors living developments.
  • Built. (a construction and property development company) - In connection with all aspects of its corporate and property development facilities.
  • GHD - In connection with its global corporate/working capital financing facilities programme with three global financial institutions.
  • Domestic Bank - A$ facility for construction of student accommodation in South Australia.
  • Papua New Guinea government - A$1.2bn derivatives acquisition financing with UBS (Sydney Branch) to assist with its purchase of shares in Oil Search Limited (an ASX-listed company).
  • Deutsche Bank AG - In connection with its role as Intercreditor Agent for the New Sat financing provided by US Ex-Im and Societe General.
  • Bank of New York Mellon - In connection with its various roles as trustee and agent for secured creditors for the Adani Abbot Point Terminal.
  • National Australia Bank - In connection with an uncommitted derivatives facility with ALE Direct Property Fund.
