A number of new employment laws came into force in April 2024 to provide greater flexibility for employees, including enhanced flexible working rights and new leave entitlements. However, a recent survey by Acas found that 43% of employers were unaware of the changes to the flexible working regime (www.acas.org.uk/7-out-of-10-employees-are-unaware-of-new-law-changes-to-flexible-working). It is important that employers are aware of, and prepared for, these changes.

Illumina wins at top EU court: The EU Commission cannot encourage or accept referrals of concentrations without an EU or national dimension
On 3 September 2024, the ECJ delivered its judgment in Illumina’s appeal against the General Court’s (GC) judgment confirming the European Commission’s (EC) powers to review concentrations under the EU Merger Regulation (EUMR) in circumstances where no Member State has jurisdiction under national law.
