The UK ETS Authority published a consultation paper setting out its proposals for extending the UK ETS scheme under the UK Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Scheme Order 2020 beyond the end of Phase I to follow directly into a second phase from 1 January 2031 onward. The consultation also seeks views on the length of the proposed Phase II and whether banking of emissions allowances between Phase I and Phase II should be permitted. Responses to this public consultation are required to be submitted by 23:59 BST on 9 April 2025.
