Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) on the evaluation of tenders and negotiation of the contract terms for the refurbishment and rehabilitation of the 132MW coal-fired power station known as Morupule A at Morupule near Palapye, Botswana.
The contract was entered into by BPC and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co Limited and the transaction is of national importance in the context of the country moving towards self-sufficiency in the supply of electricity.
Richard Hill, partner at Norton Rose Fulbright, comments:
“We are delighted to have assisted BPC to finalise this contract for a project of such significance within the power sector and generally in Botswana. This innovative project using and improving existing assets is a significant step towards Botswana becoming self-sufficient in the supply of electricity in the near future and we look forward to working with BPC on other matters to achieve that goal.
The Norton Rose Fulbright team was led by London partners, Richard Hill with Richard Metcalf, and included Dan Kaufman (Johannesburg), Jim Jordan, Shah Jahan Khandokar, Santiago Ross and Emily John.
Armstrongs Attorneys acted as local counsel to BPC.
