Biography
Sam Morrey is a corporate lawyer based in London.
Sam’s practice focuses primarily on the energy, infrastructure and natural resources sectors. He advises UK and international clients on a broad range of corporate transactions, including domestic and cross-border M&A, joint ventures, capital fundraisings and general corporate advisory work.
Sam is also part of our sports law practice in the UK and has particular experience in the UK football and motorsport sectors.
Sam trained with the firm, during which time he spent six months on secondment in our Paris office.

- Funds managed by Schroders Greencoat on their acquisition of a 24.5% stake in West of Duddon Sands offshore wind farm from Ørsted, with a transaction value of £456.1 million on a debt-free basis.
- Brookfield Asset Management and its consortium partner, Real Assets Investment Management, on their acquisition of a leading commercial and residential rooftop solar portfolio from Atrato Onsite Energy plc, with a headline price of £218.7 million.
- TotalEnergies on its divestment of a 50% interest in the 1.3GW UK West Burton B gas-fired power plant and 49MW battery storage system to EP UK Investments Limited, a UK subsidiary of EPH.
- TotalEnergies on its £450 million acquisition of the 1.3GW UK West Burton B gas-fired power plant and 49MW battery storage system from EIG Partners.
- TotalEnergies on its minority investment in Xlinks First in connection with the development of the Xlinks Morocco-UK Power Project, a first-of-its-kind long-distance renewable energy generation, battery storage and cross-border export project.
- Infinity Power on its acquisition of Lekela Power, an operator of 1GW worth of wind power projects in South Africa, Egypt and Senegal, from a consortium led by Actis and Mainstream funds. Africa Renewables Acquisition Deal of the Year 2023, IJInvestor Awards.
- Greencoat UK Wind plc and other funds managed by Schroders Greencoat on their £717 million acquisition of a 25% stake in London Array offshore wind farm from Ørsted.
- Endeavour Mining on the sale of its 90% interests in its Boungou and Wahgnion mines in Burkina Faso to Lilium Mining.
- Greencoat UK Wind plc on its £400 million acquisition from GIP of a 12.5% stake in Hornsea One offshore wind farm developed by Ørsted.
- Sandvik AB on its acquisition of the mining-related business of Schenck Process Group, a business with locations in 21 countries, approximately 630 employees and FY22 revenue of approximately €200 million.
- Endeavour Mining on the sale of its 90% interest in its Karma mine in Burkina Faso to Néré Mining.
- Endeavour Mining on the sale of its 85% interest in its Agbaou Mine in Côte d’Ivoire to Allied Gold Corp.
- Greencoat UK Wind plc and Greencoat Renewable Income LP on their £250 million acquisition of a 25% stake in Burbo Bank Extension offshore wind farm from Danish pension fund PKA.
