DWP call for evidence on the challenge of deferred small pots

The DWP has issued a call for evidence to “deepen the evidence base around the scale and characteristics of the growth in the number of deferred small pots”. This problem has been recognised and discussed for many years with no solution being proffered. The paper is focussed on two large-scale automated consolidation solutions:

• A default consolidator model where pots would transfer automatically, although members would be able to opt-out.

• A pot follows member model where a member’s pot would automatically follow them to their new employer’s scheme where they changed job.

The deadline for responses is March 27, 2023.
