Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Enertronica S.p.A., an Italian listed company active in the energy sector in Italy and around the world, on the acquisition of 70 per cent of the corporate capital of Sertum Energy Namibia (Proprietary) Limited (Sertum Namibia). Sertum Namibia owns the rights to build, connect and operate a 6 MWp solar plant at Trekkopje, Erongo Region, in Namibia.
The solar park will be the first one built in Namibia under the Renewable Energy Feed in Tariff (REFIT) Programme and will be fully operative and connected to the grid by the end of 2016. This investment falls within Enertronica’s multi-year development and industrial consolidation plan in the Sub-Saharan Africa region, where the company has been active since 2012.
The Norton Rose Fulbright team for Enertronica was led by Luigi Costa, banking and energy senior associate based in Milan, who commented:
“This transaction is another example of the great work that Enertronica is doing within the Sub-Saharan African renewables industry. The Trekkopje PV project in particular will deliver considerable benefits of renewable energy supply for Namibia. Africa continues as an area of popularity and growth for Italian construction companies and we are delighted to be able combine our on-the-ground African and Italian experience to bring this transaction to a successful close.”
