Norton Rose Fulbright Fellowship

The Norton Rose Fulbright Fellowship is awarded to a limited number of law students who demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities, strong academic performance and unique backgrounds, perspectives and experiences that will enrich a collaborative and dynamic law firm environment.

The Fellowship is open to law students enrolled at an ABA-accredited law school. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, regardless of race, color, religion, citizenship, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, military service, disability or any other characteristic protected by law. Applicants must not have previously participated in a Norton Rose Fulbright summer program.

Fellowship recipients will receive a total award of US$50,000 (less applicable withholdings and taxes).

Eligibility and selection criteria

To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be a full-time law student at an accredited law school.
  • Receive and accept an offer to join Norton Rose Fulbright as a summer associate.
  • In addition to a cover letter, resume, and unofficial transcript, applicants are required to provide a personal statement of no more than 500 words addressing the following:
    • Using specific examples, please explain how your personal, academic, and/or professional background and experiences will allow you to offer a unique perspective to our team and the clients we serve.

Fellowship recipients will be selected based on:

  • Strong academic performance (e.g., GPA, coursework, honors, academic achievements).
  • Meaningful leadership experience in extracurricular, professional or community contexts, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to people-first values, including community engagement, cultural competence and advocacy.
  • Clear alignment between the applicant’s skills, interests and career goals and the strategic needs of the firm or practice groups.

Expectations of Fellowship recipients

  • Recipients must accept and complete Norton Rose Fulbright’s full summer associate program. Participation is required for a minimum of eight consecutive weeks, beginning on the first day of the summer program.
  • The Norton Rose Fulbright Fellowship is intended to support the recipient’s legal education.
