Norton Rose Fulbright advises Natixis Energéco on the financing of the Novillars Biomass Cogeneration Facility (CBN) in France

Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright has advised Natixis Energéco on the project aspects of the Novillars Biomass Cogeneration Facility located in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in France. Natixis Energéco was leading a banking pool comprising four banks (Caisse d’Epargne et de Prévoyance Bourgogne Franche-Comté, Auxifip - Groupe Crédit Agricole et BNP Paribas) providing the senior bank debt financing for the project that consists in the construction of the €87million facility primarily owned and developed by Akuo Energy.
The facility will have a 20MWe capacity and a thermal output of 23.5MWth. The electricity produced will be sold to EDF during 20 years. It is part of an exemplary short-cycle circular economy project within the region, building on its wood industry and supplying public infrastructures and local industries with green electricity and green steam.
The Norton Rose Fulbright team was led by energy partner Arnaud Bélisaire, assisted by Thomas Rabain, of counsel, and Pierre Thévenin-Montefiore.
