Investment in UK Maritime
Supporting the Zero-Carbon Future
Event Details
The maritime industry remains at a pivotal juncture and continues to face significant challenges. Chief among these is the imperative to prioritise decarbonisation and aim for net zero emissions by 2050. Alongside this, the industry must adapt to new and disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence and autonomous shipping which have the capacity to transform the face of shipping if the industry is able and willing, and has the financial support, to embrace them.
As the UK strives to lead in maritime innovation and sustainability, the scale of investment is substantial. The estimated cost of decarbonising the industry ranges between $1.5 and $1.9 trillion. At current levels of lending, traditional financing sources may not be sufficient to cover the huge investment needed and alternative sources of finance will need to be considered.
The Department for Transport, Maritime London and Norton Rose Fulbright are delighted to invite you to join us for an engaging mix of keynote speeches and panel discussions as we explore with leading figures within the maritime community how the UK has positioned itself to address these challenges and support the maritime industry into the future, including through the UK’s financial and professional business services industries and by harnessing the power of UK Government support.
