Norton Rose Fulbright partner Gina Shishima honored with 2024 ABA Margaret Brent Award

Norton Rose Fulbright’s US Chief Strategy and Operations Partner Gina Shishima has been named a recipient of the 2024 Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award by the American Bar Association (ABA).
This award, established in 1991, recognizes women lawyers who carry forward the legacy of Margaret Brent, the first woman lawyer in the US. Honorees are chosen for their professional excellence and their work in actively paving the way to success for other women lawyers.
Gina (Austin) is an intellectual property partner with a PhD in molecular biology who focuses her patent practice on pharmaceutical and biotechnology company and research hospitals and universities. She is the first woman of color to be a member of the firm’s US Management Committee and also serves on its Global Executive Committee.

Gina, who previously served as the firm’s US Head of Intellectual Property as well as the US Chief Diversity Officer, said:

Throughout her career, Gina has paved the way for diverse lawyers and created a more equitable workplace. As a member of firm management, she has played a key role in a variety of firm initiatives that support women lawyers at the firm. In addition, she co-chaired the Women’s Leadership Network of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) after serving on its Board of Governors. She is also on the Executive Committee for the Center for Women in Law, in addition to being on the Board of Directors for Advancing Justice | AAJC in Washington DC.
The 2024 class of honorees will be recognized at the ABA’s Annual Meeting in Chicago in August.
Gina is the second recipient at the firm to be recognized with the Margaret Brent Award, as Past Managing Partner Linda Addison was honored in 2009.
