Biography

Grant Ahearn is a projects and construction lawyer based in Melbourne.

Grant has over 35 years' experience across the whole spectrum of projects and construction law, from project documentation and construction agreements to all forms of dispute resolution including construction litigation, arbitration, mediation and expert determination. He also provides strategic advice in the project delivery phase being after financial close or contract execution but prior to having recourse to dispute resolution.

Grant has been involved in the negotiation and documentation of significant infrastructure and engineering projects including Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (PPP), AAMI Stadium, East West Link (PPP), Ararat Prison (PPP), Victorian Schools (PPP), EastLink (PPP), Southern Cross Station (PPP), Central Barangaroo, Media House, the National Gallery of Victoria Redevelopment, Adelaide Desalination Project (DBOM), Brisbane Airport Domestic Terminal Expansion and numerous development projects at Essendon Airport. He has also been involved in numerous high-end residential and commercial office and retail tower development projects in the Melbourne CBD, Southbank and Docklands precincts.

Grant has also been involved in a number of cases filed in the Supreme Court of Victoria's Technology, Engineering and Construction List, including various Appeal cases.

His areas of expertise are: construction and engineering (major projects and infrastructure, PPP projects and dispute resolution) and documentation (project deeds/development agreements, consultancy agreements, novation agreements, project and construction management agreements, managing contractor agreements, ECI Agreements, EPC and EPCM agreements, design and construct contracts, supply agreements, guaranteed maximum price contracts, finance tripartite deeds and construction direct agreements).
