Biography
Ruth Cowley is a partner in the dispute resolution group based in London. She is a Solicitor-Advocate (English courts) and is dual-qualified in England and Hong Kong, having spent six years working in our Singapore and Hong Kong offices.
Ruth is experienced in commercial litigation and international arbitration, regulation and investigations. Most of her cases include international elements. Her recent experience includes international shareholder and joint venture disputes and cross border litigation, international arbitration with state elements, investigations (internal and external) into corporate conduct, and fraud and corruption issues. Ruth works closely with our corporate teams on risk management and strategy issues, advising on deal risk issues and disputes arising out of transactions.
She is recognized in legal directories for her litigation and investigations experience and as one of GIR's Top 100 Women in Investigations (2018). The Legal 500 UK 2019 and 2020 editions describe Ruth as "hugely impressive", "extremely knowledgeable, professional and extremely practical".
Ruth is a member of a number of arbitral institutions, including the Singapore and Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators.
